The seasonally adjusted FGV-IBRE Consumer Confidence Index in Brazil sank to 86.2 in January of 2025 from 92 in the previous month, the lowest in nearly two years, reflecting the poor momentum for Brazilian assets amid growing pessimistic rhetoric of high interest rates, inflation, and unsustainable deficit spending.

The gauge measuring the current situation for households sank to 79.4 from 82.7 in the previous month, while the index measuring future expectations dropped to 91.6 from 97.6.
